We all have moments of
recognizing the sense of imprisonment by the complex structures of our
lives, the lack of adequate time and space for the playful timing of a
satisfactory life.
On catching the end of
Papillion, a story of island imprisonment, I noticed the central
characters had two different responses. Dustin Hoffman adapted.
Steve McQueen sought escape, spending his time contemplating eddies and
currents in the cove below the cliff. After many failures, he
realized the secret lie in understanding the timing of the natural rhythm
when the larger seventh wave flushed the cove and could carry him to
freedom. |
